Head coach David Wagner is hopeful that Dimitris Giannoulis will not have an extended spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury against Huddersfield Town.
Previewing the trip to West Bromwich Albion, the head coach stated he was still unsure of the extent of the injury but was hoping to have the Greek international available for the busy window coming up.
Wagner also confirmed that Josh Sargent would return to full training on Christmas Day.
"You've seen that one or another player will be coming back, which has only quality and quality always helps," he said.
"To have them back, Josh (Sargent) is back in training on Monday, he's the next one and he's not far away from being involved in the matchday squad as well.
"We need to continue, keep going, everyone is now pushing for a shirt, to be in the matchday squad. It's very competitive which we always love to have. Hopefully Dimi's injury isn't too serious, and then as I said, we go on to the next one."
On our Boxing Day opposition, he outlined the positive progress they have made this year and the strong position they hold in the play-off spots.
"They are in the play-offs for a reason, very well organised, very experience team as well. But we will try to create ideas, try to find spaces where we can hurt them.
"With recent games that we've had, it's nice to see the players now with a lot of confidence which you always need in football."
Now at the halfway point in the Championship season, Wagner also reflected on the last five months.
"If you consider all the problems we have had in the first half of the season, I think we are in a position which is ok. Hopefully we have less injury problems in the second half and yeah, we'll go for it.
"This is what we said at the beginning of the season as well. It's great to see that this team stuck together in a difficult period where it was easy to blame each other.
"They never finger-point at anyone, they raise their hand and say 'not good enough' and work hard to make it better."
