Tim played 39 games for Norwich last season as we were promoted from the Sky Bet Championship as Champions. However, he also forced his way back into contention for the No. 1 jersey for the Netherlands and featured in four games for his country, including recent World Cup qualifiers against Turkey, Latvia and Gibraltar.

Now heading into the summer, he faces the prospect of starting for the Netherlands at Euro 2020 as they face matches at the Amsterdam Arena against Ukraine, Austria and North Macedonia.

“It has always been a dream of mine to be part of European Championships and World Cups and to have three home games in Amsterdam is a dream for me to be a part of,” said Krul.

“I have been working hard to get back involved with the team and it has been amazing that I have managed to play the last five international games for my country and to be there would be the icing on the cake of us going up as well this year, for sure.”

It will also be made special because there is a chance that fans could be back in stadiums by the time Euro 2020 kicks-off. It is also hoped that supporters will be allowed in stadiums for the start of next season.

Krul admits fans were sorely missed by players during the last campaign when, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, they were not allowed in to the majority of matches. He says he is excited about the prospect of fans returning to Carrow Road next season.

“I can’t wait,” he said. “We know how amazing Carrow Road can be and I can’t even imagine the roar after winning 7-0 (against Huddersfield) and what the atmosphere would have been like in that stadium. I think we have tried to make them proud of the club.

“That has been our motivation to try and give them something at home to cheer about. We have definitely received all the messages of how much it has meant to them and we just want to have them back in the Premier League and make it one big party next year for sure.”

Krul has done his best to lighten the mood of supporters off the pitch as well. During the first lockdown he was one of the players who phoned to talk to fans at risk of social isolation and having chatted to an elderly lady who lived down the road from him, he went the extra mile to help her with food shopping as she was shielding.

The goalkeeper said that this sense of community is important to him, and something that he likes about living in Norwich and playing for the football club.

“I think we have seen with the Covid-19 experience how important it is to help each other,” he said. “It is something everybody can do, and it will make the world a much better place. If you see the reactions of people for just a little gesture here and there, it lightens up their day or their month even.

"I think that is what the club stands for. The CSF (Community Sports Foundation), the supporter groups and everyone is willing to help in a charitable way and that is why the club is so strong now because it is not just the board, but it is the fanbase together, that are all driving on the same path and the community aspect is a massive part of that.”
