Norwich City Academy forward Tom Dickson-Peters has signed a new contract at the club through to the summer of 2025.
The 19-year-old was recently named December's Premier League 2 Player of the Month and completed a loan move to League One side Gillingham.
“It's amazing," he told canaries.co.uk. "That’s what you want and what you work for. It paid off and that’s one of the ways that the club can pay off your hard work.”
Dean Smith named Dickson-Peters in his squad for December's first-team game against Aston Villa, and the forward got a lot out of the experience.
“I enjoyed it," he said. "There were no negatives to take away from the situation. I’m just seeing what it’s like for the first time.
"I was just trying to soak everything in that the players are doing before games, how they feel after the game depending on the result and stuff like that.
"You can learn from them because they’ve been doing it a lot longer than we have. I’m just trying to learn off of everything.”
His loan move at Gillingham will present many more opportunities to learn and Dickson-Peters has already played 45 minutes in League One against Ipswich Town.
“I just want to score some goals really, that’s about it for me, and help the team because they’re in a tough situation right now," he said.
With the knowledge that coaches at Gillingham have worked with the likes of Chris Wood and Ivan Toney, the inspiration is clear for Dickson-Peters.
“That’s where you want to be," he said. "You use that as motivation. You can take the help from the coaches around you and be the best you can be to try to get to that level.
“Competing in men's football is the next step for me. I want to get on with it and have the best time possible.”
