Norwich City Under-16s took part in the Premier League's annual U16 National Tournament over the weekend, an event created for players to play against teams they wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to play against.
28 Academy Category 1 and Category 2 teams took part in the tournament over three days at Loughborough University. The University boasts over eight pitches, including a show pitch with a stadium stand.
City's Under-16s played in an initial group stage, playing their Aston Villa, Manchester City, and AFC Bournemouth counterparts. They also had the opportunity to play a further game against Manchester United.
The tournaments the club are entered into give great development opportunities and exposes the players to competitive football at a higher level.
Parents were welcome to attend the tournament to watch their sons in action. The Premier League also ran a parents-only session, where a selection of parents could talk about their son's footballing journey, and to give advice to parents who will be going through a similar journey.
It was a great tournament for the Under-16s to attend to continue their development. Under-16s squad member Tyler Williams, despite being injured, travelled from London with his family to support his teammates in the tournament.
