Two late goals condemned Norwich City Under-18s to a 4-2 defeat away to Southampton in the Under-18 PL South.

The game's early chances fell to Norwich, as Errol Mundle-Smith and Harrison Thompson had efforts but the hosts defended well.

Southampton created chances of their own, as Caleb Ansen was called into action to save twice from Will Merry.

Merry would open the scoring just before the half-hour mark, as he found the back of the net at the second attempt after his initial penalty was saved by Ansen.

Alfie Doy almost found an equaliser in stoppage time of the first half, but his effort was saved well by the Southampton goalkeeper.

Norwich equalised early into the second half, as Sufianu Sillah Dibaga put through his own goal.

Mundle-Smith had a couple of opportunities to put the Canaries ahead, seeing one effort blocked before a header went over the bar.

The Saints would go ahead, as Josh Pitts restores Southampton's lead. He found the bottom corner with his effort.

La'Sean Sealey almost equalised for the Canaries, but his effort was just wide of the post.

Damari Daley and Toby Chilvers both would have shots for Norwich, but couldn't find a way past the goalkeeper.

Norwich would level with five minutes to go, after Damari Daley was fouled in the area. Tyler Williams found the top corner with his penalty as the Canaries equalised.

But the hosts would go in front once again, as Merry added his second of the game late on.

Merry would complete a hat-trick for the Saints, scoring their fourth of the afternoon to secure all three points.
