Norwich City Under-18s earned their third draw from three games after their 1-1 result against Blackburn Rovers U18s on Tuesday afternoon.
It was City’s third pre-season fixture after two previous draws with Grimsby Town and Bolton Wanderers, with just a friendly against Derby County remaining until the U18 Premier League season begins.
Much like their 1-1 draw with Bolton, City started on the front foot against Rovers, being awarded a penalty early on after Alex Matos was fouled inside the 18-yard box. Kenny Coker, who recently signed his first pro contract with the club, stepped up and converted calmly from the spot for the lead.
The game opened up from this point on, Blackburn showing the quality that earnt them a sixth-place finish in the U18 Premier League North last season and hitting the Canaries on the counter-attack.
The swift move capitalised nicely on City’s positioning, earning them a clean shot at goal, which was converted in the 42nd minute to level the scoring.
Despite an equally tense second half, neither team could find the decisive finish to take the lead, leaving both teams settling for a draw by the full time whistle.
