Norwich City Under-18s will be making the trip to London again this weekend to face Arsenal and goalkeeper David Aziaya is in confident mood.
Norwich were beaten last time out in Under-18 Premier League South, but put in a good performance against Tottenham Hotspur.
Now Aziaya says the team must take confidence from that but cut out the mistakes that saw them concede two goals in a matter of minutes.
“I would say that we were very unlucky last week and I feel that we played well in the Spurs game and probably deserved to come away with more,” he said.
“It’s a similar pattern to our season really, where I feel as though our position definitely doesn’t reflect how the boys have played so far this season.
"Except for the Brighton game, our other four losses have only been by one goal, so it’s been tough to take, but there are definitely positive signs to build on for us.”
The result means that City stay bottom having picked up seven points from 23 games.
The Gunners on the other hand sit seventh in the table, just four points off third in what is a tight top end of the table having won four of their last five matches.
David, is aware of the threat that Arsenal hold. He said: “They're a really good side, they’ve obviously got a path directly from the youth teams into the first team and when we played them early in the season it was a tough game.
“You can see their points tally in the table reflects how they’ve played this season, just three points off of third, so I’m looking forward to the challenge and hopefully we come away with the three points.”
In the earlier clash this season Arsenal came out on top winning 3-0 at the Lotus Training thanks to a hat-trick from striker Khayon Edwards.
The Young Canaries have just three matches left this season, all against London opposition, after Arsenal they face Tottenham again, at home this time whilst on the final day of the season they travel to West Ham.
David is looking to finish the season strongly and push on his career: “It’s really, really important that we finish the season strongly, we’re looking forward to our last three games against Arsenal, Spurs and West Ham.
"They’re all very strong sides but it’s important that we finish well. For me personally, it’s been a bit of a different season having gone on two loans, but the loan at Barnsley was very helpful and has definitely helped me come back to Norwich as a better player and now I’m looking to use that, finish this season positively and then push on as I move into the Under-23s next year.”
