The Canaries already confirmed their spot in the next round thanks to a previous win over Charlton Athletic, and knew they'd need a big win in order to leapfrog the Cherries and claim top.
Norwich started the game as the stronger team, with Adian Manning registering an early shot.
Elliot Myles and Dan Ogwuru then had chances in quick succession, with the Cherries defending well.
A free-kick from Gabe Forsyth was close to opening the scoring, but the Scotsman's effort was too high.
Bournemouth had first half chances of their own, as Jonny Stuttle put a header over Dan Barden's crossbar.
Dominic Sadi and Baylin Johnson also had opportunities for the Cherries, but both efforts were off-target.
Joe Duffy had an effort saved by the Bournemouth goalkeeper, before the Cherries opened the scoring a minute later.
Stuttle set up Balraj Landa, who found the bottom right corner to put Bournemouth ahead just before the hour mark.
Harry Brooke tried to find an equaliser for the Canaries, but his shot was just wide of the post.
There was still no way through for Norwich, as both Ken Aboh and Errol Mundle-Smith created opportunities.
Dan Barden saved well from Karlos Gregory as the game ended as a defeat for the Canaries.
