Norwich City Under-21s were beaten 2-1 away to their Everton counterparts in the Premier League 2 on Friday (September 22) night.
Borja Sainz played another 45 minutes of football, as the Spaniard continues his return from injury, and there was a first start for Pedro Lima.
Jack Harrison, Everton's summer signing from Leeds United, started for the hosts and came closest to opening the scoring. The winger made his way into the box, with his shot taking a slight deflection over the bar.
The Toffees took the lead from the penalty spot, as Francis Okronkwo sent Vicente Reyes the wrong way.
Norwich created chances to find an equaliser, with Ken Aboh seeing a couple of efforts go over the crossbar.
Tom Dickson-Peters' free-kick almost drew the Canaries level, but the set-piece was just over the bar.
Everton doubled their lead shortly into the second half, as Jenson Metcalfe capitalised on a defensive error to score.
Finley Welch had Norwich's best chance to find a way back into the game. Lima's initial shot was deflected into his path, and Welch's volley was tipped onto the crossbar by the Everton crossbar.
And Norwich would pull one back through Daniel Ogwuru, who netted his first goal for the club since his move from Manchester City.
Alan Neilson's side were unable to find an equaliser, as Everton claimed all three points.
The Under-21s are back in action on Sunday, October 1, as they welcome West Bromwich Albion to Carrow Road.
