Norwich City Under-21s fell to a 2-1 defeat away to their Reading counterparts in the Premier League 2.
Alan Neilson's side featured a number of first-team players, including George Long, Danny Batth and January signing Sydney van Hooijdonk.
Reading started off the brighter side, as Adrian Akande's effort was saved by Long.
Liam Gibbs had Norwich's first chance, with his free-kick not troubling the Reading goalkeeper.
The hosts took the lead through Akande, who fired beyond Long after breaking forward well.
Just before the break, the Canaries were level. A mistake from the Reading goalkeeper allowed Finley Welch to lift the ball into an empty net from distance.
Van Hooijdonk had Norwich's first chance of the second half, meeting a free-kick with a volley which was saved well.
Jayden Wareham then put Reading ahead, tapping in from close range after a ball across goal.
The Canaries came close to a quick response as Ken Aboh came forward but his effort could only find the side-netting.
But there would be no equaliser from Norwich, as Reading claimed all three points at the EBB Stadium.
The Under-21s return to action after the international break as they host Southampton at the Lotus Training Centre.
