Norwich City Under-21s fell to a 3-0 defeat away to Manchester City in their final Premier League 2 match of the season on Monday night.
Goalkeeper Caleb Ansen was on hand early to deny the hosts an opener, thwarting both Charlie Gray and Matty Warhurst in the opening exchanges.
The Canaries’ best chance of the first half fell to Luke Towler, but it was Manchester City who took the lead on the half-hour mark through full-back Christian McFarlane.
Theo Adelusi almost brought Norwich level, but the defender couldn’t direct his header on target from a corner.
Manchester City doubled their advantage on 44 minutes, with Warhurst heading home from close range.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with the hosts continuing to dominate possession. Ansen was again called into action, producing smart saves to deny Gray and Kian Noble.
Substitutes Ameen, Steele and Glossop were introduced as Norwich searched for a way back into the game, but Manchester City sealed the points with seven minutes remaining, as Sverre Nypan converted from the penalty spot.
