Under-21s Report | Norwich City 0-2 FC Nordsjælland

Norwich City fell to a 2-0 defeat against FC Nordsjælland in the Premier League International Cup at Carrow Road.

The visiting side raced into their 2-0 lead and a much-improved Canaries tried to battle back in the second half but were kept at bay.

City almost had the lead within a minute of kick-off, William Lykke producing an excellent save to deny Brandon Forbes.

A run in behind the left-back by Errol Mundle-Smith caused problems, his cross finding Forbes at the back post.

However, Lykke sprung across his goal to keep the young Scot at bay.

Nene soon with close with a powerful effort which was a sign of the threat that he posed.

And he reaffirmed that by opening the scoring in the 15th minute, finding the bottom corner at the end of a good move from Nordsjælland.

Hansen would score the second just before the half-hour mark, latching on to a through ball and sidefooting it beyond Finch.

The visiting Danes would prove dominant for the opening 45 minutes and could have made it three when Jaden Warner took down Markus Walker in the penalty area.

Hansen stepped up and placed his spot-kick just wide of the bottom corner.

As the second half progressed, City found their feet a bit more and started to test Lykke more.

However, the visiting 'keeper made two good saves from substitute Dan Ogwuru and Jonathan Tomkinson in quick succession.

There were plenty of positives to take from the second half but Norwich would fail to breach the Nordsjælland defence.

When they did finally find the net, the assistant referee had his flag up to chalk off AJ Bridge's effort.
