Norwich City Under-21s ended 2024 with defeat, losing 3-1 against Middlesbrough at the Avant Training Centre.

The away side took the lead inside 10 minutes as Law McCabe volleyed in from the edge of the area.

Middlesbrough goalkeeper Shea Connor made a number of good stops, denying efforts from Adian Manning and Tony Springett.

Norwich's best chance of the game came just before the break, as Springett played the ball across goal to Dan Ogwuru, but he couldn't guide his effort on target.

Manning had an opportunity at the start of the second half, beating a defender before getting a shot away but saw it go wide of the post.

Ajay Matthews let fly from distance for the away side, an effort which needed Caleb Ansen to palm away for a corner.

Boro doubled their lead just after the hour mark as Dan Nkrumah scored from close range after an initial effort was saved.

Norwich pulled a goal back moments later as Elliot Myles latched onto a loose pass, cut inside a defender and coolly slotted beyond the goalkeeper.

But Middlesbrough would restore their two-goal lead moments later as Matthews raced through and finished beyond Ansen.
