Norwich City began their Under-21 Premier League Cup campaign with a 2-2 draw against Colchester United at the Avant Training Centre.
Norwich took the lead just before the 10-minute mark through Dylan Jones, who had the simple task of finishing beyond the Colchester goalkeeper from a ball across goal.
And the lead was doubled shortly before the half-hour mark as AJ Bridge found the bottom corner with a fantastic finish from Luke Towler's ball into the box.
Frankie Edwards was the closest to pulling a goal back for Colchester, as his header went narrowly wide of Luis Lines' goal.
Just before the break, the away side nearly pulled a goal back as Kien Connolly hit the post from close range.
Three minutes into the second half, Colchester were awarded a penalty and reduced the deficit to one as Connolly converted from the spot.
Colchester would be level minutes later, as an effort from long range by Albert Wood found its way beyond Lines and in.
Just after the hour-mark, Finley Welch made his return from injury as he replaced Brandon Forbes.
And Welch made an instant impression, surging forward on a ran and finding Jones, whose effort was pushed away by Harrison Chamberlain.
Neither side would find a winner as the points in the Under-21 PL Cup were shared.
The Under-21s are back in Premier League 2 action on Monday, September 22, as they travel away to face Newcastle United.
