Norwich City Under-21s will face Swansea City Under-21s in the quarter-finals of a new end-of-season academy play-offs.
Following on from the Canaries’ 3-1 extra-time win over Sheffield United on Monday night, Olly Lee’s side will now face Swansea City at Carrow Road on Saturday, May 2 (1pm KO).
Having gone behind after Dovydas Sasnauskas headed the Blades in front after eight minutes, City’s second half pressure was rewarded just twelve minutes from time when Luke Towler fired in from the edge of the area, sending the tie into extra-time.
Two quick fire goals in the second half of extra-time from Rio Mundle and Jake Glossop either side of Harry McGlinchey’s red card secured the Canaries’ place in the quarter finals.
Following the Canaries’ 23rd place finish in PL2, as a part of a new 2025/26 introduction, the eight Premier League 2 teams finishing in positions from 17th to 24th go into a new, cross-category play-off competition with the top eight teams from the Professional Development League (Category 2). Consisting of a round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.
Norwich are set to play Swansea next, after the Swans defeated Newcastle United 2-0 on Monday night.
