Norwich City Women are delighted to announce the appointment of goalkeeping coach Hugh McCluskie.
He joins with five years of experience with Wolves Women, initially joining as assistant coach to Dan MacNamara in 2019 but shortly after filling the position of goalkeeping coach.
Born in Antrim, he gained a bachelor’s degree in aerospace at the University of Glasgow, going on to work for the RAF as an engineer for more than 23 years.
The goalkeeping coach also worked alongside The FA as part of the Talent ID programme in the East Midlands.
Hugh will join head coach Andy Cook and assistant coach Ethan Scott, alongside physical performance coach Will Davies and sports therapist Robyn Joseph.
On joining the club, Hugh said: "I’m delighted to have joined the club. My wife is originally from Norwich, so I know what the club means to the city and supporters.
“Everyone has made me feel welcome and I’m buzzing to get the season started. I’m looking forward to working towards the goals we’ve got this season.
“Flo and Andy have shown what the aims and visions are and to achieve those aims is going to be a great challenge but very exciting times ahead.”
Head of women's football Flo Allen added: "I am absolutely thrilled to be welcoming Hugh to Norwich City.
"His coaching pedigree and experience speaks for itself and he will be an excellent addition to our on-pitch coaching team and to our goalkeeping programme.
"I am excited to see the impact he will inevitably have on all of our goalkeepers and the wider squad."
Hugh will be joining us following the departure of Jake Jessup.
We thank Jake for his time at the club and wish him all the best for the future. He remains in a working capacity with Norwich City as a goalkeeping coach at the academy.
