Vacancy: Grounds Apprentices

**Location:** Lotus Training Centre, Norwich, NR4 7TS **Contract and hours:** 40 hours per week, as and when required **Salary:** £10,400 per annum, plus company benefits A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an eager and motivated candidate to join the grounds apprentice at Norwich City Football Club in the role of grounds apprentice. We are looking for someone with an interest in grounds maintenance and machinery. In return, we can offer a varied and fulfilling role at a Championship football club alongside the completion of a Level 2 Sports Turf Operative Apprenticeship, which will be completed through Myerscough College. The successful candidate would then be eligible to join the IOG Register of Turf Management Professionals. **Key tasks/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:** · Assist the grounds team to prepare and maintain all playing surfaces at the training ground and stadium, including both first team and academy pitches. · Assist the grounds team in delivering an end of season maintenance programme for the training ground and Carrow Road. · Ensure all routine pre-start checks are conducted on machinery before use and report any failures or faults via the reporting chain. · Use a wide range of machinery, and develop knowledge and skills to assist with all machinery breakdowns, setting up all cylinder/rotary mowers. · Maintenance of all size goals and nets including ball-stop netting, noting any defects. · Maintenance of landscaped areas at all club using pedestrian mowers, trimmers, hedge trimming, hand-tools, weeding beds, blowing all leaves/stones, and planting trees/shrubs. Candidates must have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including Maths and English, or a Level 1 vocational qualification plus GCSE grade D/3 in both Maths and English (or Functional Skills Level 1 alternatively).
