An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the scouting and recruitment department at Norwich City Football Club in the role of positional scouting lead. Reporting to the head of recruitment, the positional scouting lead will be responsible for the identification, evaluation, and recommendation of players within their assigned positional group to support the recruitment process.
Location: Lotus Training Centre / remote, with regular visits and meetings required at the training ground
Contract and hours: Permanent (full time). The role requires regular weekend working and some evenings. Extensive domestic and occasional international travel will be required within the role.
Key tasks/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of players within assigned positional group across relevant senior and emerging talent markets.
- Conduct extensive video scouting to support the player identification and evaluation process.
- Create and maintain live target and monitor lists within assigned positional group.
- Conduct targeted domestic and international live scouting on players of interest.
- Compile scout reports using bespoke reporting methods to aid player identification and evaluation process.
- Cross check players within secondary positional group to support decision making process.
- Collaborate with technical scouts / data analyst to ensure effective player identification and market coverage.
- Gather and maintain market knowledge and intelligence to support recruitment process.
- Build relationships with external stakeholders including clubs, agents, and intermediaries.
- Develop a deep knowledge of Norwich City players throughout the pathway for benchmarking purposes.

Qualifications and requirements
- Demonstratable proficiency in player identification and evaluation.
- Previous experience of player identification, evaluation, and recruitment of elite footballers.
- Demonstratable technical/tactical knowledge gained through coaching qualifications, playing experience or previous employment within a similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of domestic and international markets.
- Experience of combining data, video and live scouting to aid the player identification and recruitment process.
- FA Level 3 Talent Identification qualification (desirable).
- Broad understanding of player identification and recruitment processes, rules, and governance.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally when required.
