Norwich City's first league game under new head coach David Wagner served up a treat for supporters as they ran out 4-0 winners at Deepdale.
A double each for Kieran Dowell and Teemu Pukki, three of which came in the first half made for a good day out up north for the 1000 travelling supporters.
Pukki completed his double in the second half and sealed the three points.
The early minutes were cagey with both sides getting a feel for the other, and no clear cut chances being made.
However, the Canaries did have the majority of the ball and were probing for an opening.
That came after 13 minutes when Onel Hernández and then Gabriel Sara found themselves swarmed in the penalty area before the Brazilian nudged the ball into the path of Pukki.
The Finn slotted it into the top corner coolly.
That was followed within two minutes by Dowell's first which he thundered in off the woodwork.
His second was a much more straight forward finish. He passed the ball into an empty net after a combination of Josh Sargent and Pukki made the opportunity.
A double change from Preston brought them back into it a bit more and Kenny McLean and Max Aarons both made excellent blocks.
Despite that, City held firm to the break.
There was a nervy moment for Norwich within a minute of the restart as debutant Liam Delap was fed through but Tim Krul was equal to the danger, producing a big stop.
The 'keeper produced another fine save from Tom Cannon just moments later, palming his effort on to the crossbar.
At the other end, a couple of chances for Sargent and Pukki were snuffed out by last-ditch defending.
Pukki would add his second, and City's fourth, in the 69th-minute. He took in a long pass before beating Alvaro Fernandez and sliding the ball underneath Woodman.
Another positive for head coach Wagner was the return of Jacob Sørensen to the action, he was introduced with just over 10 minutes to go after spending months on the sideline due to injury.
