Join the legends that gave us the historic 1993 victory over Bayern Munich in Europe, for a special viewing event at the Lion and Castle pub.

Norwich City are inviting supporters to watch the game back through the eyes of Bryan Gunn, Darren Eadie, Chris Sutton and Ian Crook on the evening of Friday, February 16.

The match will be played on the big screen, with a recap from the special guests at full-time.

Further details are below.

The legends

Little introduction is needed to the legend that is Bryan Gunn, who played no small part in the victory at the Olympiastadion, as his 75th-minute save of Adolfo Valencia’s powerful header kept the game at 2-1.

The Canaries’ beloved Darren Eadie also made the trip down to Munich and will be reminiscing with the rest of the European victors.

Norwich City hall-of-famer Chris Sutton played all 90 minutes of the famous upset famously dubbed ‘fantasy football’.

With 418 appearances and 24 goals for City, midfielder Ian Crook will have plenty to share from the night as part of our panel of players.

The match

On October 19, 1993, Mike Walker’s Canaries travelled to Munich to face Bayern as heavy underdogs and produced one of European football’s great upsets on a famous night in the club’s history.

Goals from Jeremy Goss and Mark Bowen were enough to topple the German giants on the night (2-1), giving City the platform to progress to the third round of the UEFA cup after the ensuing draw at Carrow Road.

Event details

The legends event kicks off at 6pm, with arrival and Q&A from the special guests at 6.30pm. We will also be confirming more legends in attendance closer to the event.

Entry costs £20 and includes a retro ticket and a matchday programme, inspired by the original.

A silent auction will also be in place on the night for fans to bid on a framed retro shirt.

Food and drink is available to purchase from the bar and, in true fashion of a German away day, will include the option of currywurst.

Please note that seating will be available on a first come first serve basis.
