Norwich City Women kick-start their FAWNL Cup group stage fixtures this evening (Tuesday), hosting Peterborough Women at The Nest in a 7.45pm kick-off.

A new format of the competition sees teams placed in a localised draw, the Canaries to face Peterborough United, Real Bedford and Cambridge United in Group L.

Once the group stage is completed and each team has played each other once, the 22 group winners and 10 best runners-up will progress to the cup knockout stage.

The plate knockout stage will be made up of the remaining 12 runners-up and 20 best third-place teams, with both commencing on Sunday, October 19.

The Opposition

The Cambridgeshire side play in Division One Midlands, having finished the 2024/25 season in third place.

They collected 51 points after 16 wins and three draws, only losing three league ties.

Keir Perkins and Tara Kirk were joint top scorers for the Posh Women, with 10 goals netted each.

The Posh Women progressed as far as the second round of the league cup, losing out to the eventual Northern Premier Division champions, Nottingham Forest.
