Norwich City Women welcomed the Girls' pathway, Academy Development Programme and first-team to Carrow Road on Thursday night for a Player Pathway awards night to celebrate the 2022/23 season.
General manager Flo Allen and Girls' and Women's Football Development Manager Megan Todd opened the evening in the Gunn Club by welcoming all in attendance and highlighting the importance of taking the opportunity to thank all coaches, parents and guardians for their support throughout the season.
Ian Thornton OBE, CEO of the Foundation, and Jackie Thornton, head of development were then welcomed to the stage to discuss how far women's football has come over the years and what they hope for the future.
The pair made it clear to the younger generation in the room how hard the club is working to increase the connectivity between girls' pathway and women's team and inspiring the players in our pathway. Ian also highlighted that this year was the 25th year of girls’ football at the Foundation.
The Academy Development awards then got underway and were awarded as follows:
Under-10s - presented by Connor Veal and Kate Knights
Players' Player of the Season - Nell
Coach's Player of the Season - Rosie
Under-12s - presented by Rosie Filby and Freya Symonds
Players' Player of the Season - Lauren
Coach's Player of the Season - Adele
Under-14s - presented by Summer Ward and Natasha Snelling
Players' Player of the Season - Drew
Coach's Player of the Season - Holly
Under-16s - presented by Scott Emmerson and Alice Parker
Players' Player of the Season - Leah
Coach's Player of the Season - Lily
A final thank you was then shared with the Under-16 girls who would either be joining our Girls Further Education programme or moving onto new opportunities.
Shaun Howes then took to the stage to say his thank you's and discuss his highlights from the season, but not before he asked the room to sing Happy Birthday to Kathryn Stanley!
The women's first team awards then commenced:
Supporters' Player of the Season - Ellie Smith
Goal of the Season - Rebecca Russell
Moment of the Season - FA Cup win against Sutton Coldfield
Players' Player of the Season - Ceri Flye
Young Player of the Season - Ceri Flye
Coach's Player of the Season - Katie Knights
Special Contribution - Jess Harper
Community Engagement - Millie Daviss
Natasha Snelling received a special mention for her goal contributions of the season, having achieved joint-third highest scorer in the league.
Eloise Morran, Olivia Cook, Mary Croft and Ceri Flye were then invited on stage to receive their debut shirts from the season.
