Women's Preview | Norwich City v Real Bedford

City Women return to The Nest this weekend in a Division One South East fixture against Real Bedford Women (KO 2pm).

The Canaries returned to winning ways last weekend, beating Tier 3 side MK Dons on home turf in round one of the FAWNL Plate.

The goals came from Lara Densley (2) and Tamsin Medd-Gill in a 3-2 result.

Andy Cook's side will be hoping to pick up three points once again in their return to league action, following draws against Chesham United (2-2) and AFC Sudbury (1-1) in their most recent league outings.

City are without Holly Kennard for this fixture, after she picked up a red card last week against the Suds.

The Opposition

Sunday's visitors joined the league following promotion from the Eastern Region Women’s Football League at the end of the 2023/24 season.

They appointed Charlie Bill as the club's head coach over the summer from MK Dons and made 14 new signings, 10 of which were also from the Dons.

The Pirates have had a flying start to life in Tier 4, unbeaten with 11 points out of a possible 15.

Their most recent outing saw them travel to Wales to face Gwalia United (formerly Cardiff City) in the first round of the League Cup.

After initially going behind, Bedford scored twice in the final 20 minutes through Nicola Puddick and Sofia Stovold to progress to the next round of the competition.
