Norwich City Women lost 2-1 to Cheltenham Women in their third round Adobe Women's FA Cup tie on Sunday afternoon.
Andy Cook's side forced the Tier 3 side to take the game to extra-time, but Hope Strauss' penalty wasn't enough to stop two goals from Town's Una Lue.
The opening 20 minutes had plenty of positive play from the Canaries, as they controlled much of the game on the attack.
Natasha Snelling had a terrific effort hit the post and bounce on the line early on following her first attempted free-kick from 30 yards out.
Also on set-piece duty was Lauren Tomlinson, who slotted crosses in from both a corner and a free-kick, Shannon Shaw coming close twice.
Down the other end, Sarah Quantrill was required to make a strong save just after 35 minutes, denying a Cheltenham break through from close-range.
A shot for Snelling down the left curling goalwards was collected by Mia Smith in goal for Town as City's final chance of the opening 45 minutes.
Just two minutes before the half-time whistle, Libby Bell struck an effort that brushed the cross-bar, Cheltenham's best attempt of the half.
Cheltenham came out of the blocks for the second half the much more threatening of the two sides and were rewarded early on with a goal through Una Lue.
The Town forward played a one-two with Henna Burher to evade Quantrill and tap home in the 53rd minute.
City responded immediately, however, as Snelling was brought down in the box and Norwich were awarded a penalty.
Hope Strauss stepped up and coolly slotted the ball into the bottom corner for an equaliser just five minutes later.
Lue was on the lookout for another goal for herself and the hosts, heading just wide shortly after Strauss' goal.
A hugely important block from Ellie Bishop stopped a Cheltenham attack with five minutes to go, keeping the scores level at 1-1.
Substitute Lauren Hailes had a good opportunity to find a winner from the edge of the area, but she fired just over the target.
With 90 minutes gone and the scores level, the game was to be decided by extra-time.
Another strike from Lue was just inches high of the target, one minute into the additional time.
The striker was finally rewarded for her persistence and put the hosts ahead again after 100 minutes played.
City came so close to another equaliser, after a Holly Kennard cross rattled the crossbar before it could find a City shirt.
A frantic last couple of minutes saw efforts from Megan Todd, Freya Symonds and Olivia Cook scrambled away in the goalmouth.
The Canaries kept pushing until the end but were unable to find a second goal and subsequently exited the Adobe Women's FA Cup.
Norwich are back on the road next weekend in a Division One South East fixture against Cambridge United.
