Norwich City Women were victorious over Tier 4 side Peterborough United on Tuesday evening, as they ran out 2-0 winners at The Nest in the first of the League Cup group stage fixtures.

Issy Moore was on target in the first half with a lovely strike inside the box and Eloise Hall netted the second on her full debut for the club.

Only four players remained in the starting 11 from Sunday's league win over Actonians, as Andy Cook made plenty of rotation for the cup tie.

Lauren Hailes had the first shot at goal, profiting off a steal from Ellie Smith deep in Peterborough's half, but her strike went straight into the path of Neive Corry in goal.

A crafty interception from Millie Daviss and the perfect cross to Hall allowed the forward to have a go at goal, but her strike was narrowly wide of the target.

The right-back repeated the exact same feat, stealing the ball to slot a pass through to Hall again, who could only header an effort just over the bar.

City were rewarded for their high pressing, Hailes finding Hall in the box, who selflessly tapped the ball to Moore racing into the area, firing home for the lead.

Peterborough's Evie Driscoll-King had an effort from the edge of the area, but the save was no problem for Holly Mears.

The second half opened more evenly, Peterborough enjoying more spells of possession.

City were, however, given a further advantage when Peterborough's Kayleigh Hines was shown a straight red card for an altercation off the ball with Hall.

Keir Perkins was then sent for a sinbin with 10 minutes to go after complaints to the referee, further hurting the visitors.

The final blow was delivered by Hall, who got her deserved goal, drilling a low ball into the bottom corner for City's second.

The win leaves City top of Group L, with Real Bedford and Cambridge United to play tomorrow evening.
