Norwich City Women are pleased to announce the signing of defender Zofia Szczech from Tier 3 side Loughborough Lightning.
Born in London and raised in Bury St Edmunds, Szczech is of Polish heritage, with family origins in Wrocław.
The defender has been known to occupy any position in the back line but is most comfortable at full-back.
Having spent three years with Lightning whilst studying at university, she was part of the side that earned promotion to Tier 3 in the 2024/25 season, after an unbeaten campaign for the Division One Midlands champions.
The Midlands side retained their place in Tier 3 last season, finishing three points above the relegation zone.
Prior to her time in purple, Szczech was with Ipswich Town from July 2021 to April 2023.
On joining the Canaries, she said: "It’s a very proud moment for me to sign for the club.
"As someone who grew up in the region, I know how big the club is to the people here and I’ve observed the women’s programme grow into an impressive set-up; one I am very excited to be part of.
"I hope to bring my experience of the Northern Premier Division to help the team compete this season in a new league."
Head of women's football, Flo Allen, added: "We are all delighted to be welcoming Zofia to the club.
"Not only does she bring a wealth of Tier 3 Northern Premier division experience, but she is also a versatile defender who is comfortable operating across the back line.
"Zofia brings great character and energy to the group and demonstrates a strong work ethic, which is an important attribute for all players within our environment."
