Norwich City have completed the signing of full-back Darlin Yongwa following his departure from Ligue 1 side Lorient.
The left back joins the club on a four-year-deal, keeping him at Carrow Road until the summer of 2030.
Yongwa arrives having made 23 appearances in the French top-flight last season, making 97 appearances in total over four seasons for Les Merlus.
Born in Cameroon, the full-back, who was developed in one of Cameroon’s best football schools in Douala, made the move to Europe in 2019, joining then Ligue 2 side Chamois Niortais before going on to make 73 appearances for Les Chamois.
The 25-year-old has represented Cameroon on 14 occasions, making his debut for the national team against Uzbekistan in September 2022, scoring his only goal for the Indomitable Lions against Zambia in January 2024.
On joining the club, Yongwa said: “I’m very happy. I’ve always dreamed of playing in England, and Norwich City is an historic club.
“I’m thankful for the opportunity and excited by the project from the coach and sporting director. I can already feel the warmth of the family club, and how the people want me to be happy and succeed.
“I come with a lot of ambition. I like to play with physical and technical ability and do everything I can to help the team to achieve its goals.”
Sporting director Ben Knapper added: “I’m delighted to welcome Darlin and his family to Norwich City.
“He is a very accomplished player, with his career to date including playing three seasons in France’s Ligue 1, as well as featuring regularly for his country.
“He is fun to watch, and his combination of athleticism and technique make him effective in all phases of the game. He will give us a big boost in a position that we have faced undoubted challenges in, and under the guidance of Philippe and the rest of our staff, I’m excited to see the impact he can make.
“To land a player of this calibre is big, and I can’t wait to have him integrate into our group and environment. He will help push us further towards our goals this season, and I’m sure we can also help him develop even further both on and off the pitch.”
Yongwa will wear the number 13 shirt - supporters may claim free shirt printing of D.YONGWA 13 on the back of any new replica shirt before 11.59pm on August 6. Terms and conditions apply, see here for details.
The transfer is subject to international clearance, Right to Work and approval by The FA and EFL.
