EFL Clubs celebrate 20 seasons of Family Excellence

Norwich City is proud to join clubs across the EFL in celebrating 20 Seasons of the EFL Family Excellence Scheme. This marks two decades of work to create welcoming, inclusive and memorable matchday experiences for families and young supporters.

Launched in 2006/07, the Scheme has played a central role in helping clubs inspire the next generation of fans, bring families and generations together, strengthen community connections and support the continued growth of junior attendances across the League.

Every club plays its own part in the story of Family Excellence.

The scheme sees two assessments undertaken per club, and provides both quantitative and qualitative feedback from families, ranging from ways the club signposted family activities, dealt with their booking, through to engaging them on matchdays, managing expectations and creating a memorable matchday.

Acting as a key improvement tool, the scheme ultimately provides clubs with overall recommendation scores from families across the two matchday assessments in the season, with recognition for their performance ultimately provided at the end of each season in the form of a bronze, silver or gold award, reflecting the standard of family experience on offer.

Norwich City Football Club is proud of the part we have played by enhancing the family experience at Carrow Road.

City achieved Silver in the 2025/26 Family Excellence Scheme assessment programme. The club was also recognised as one of eleven Touchpoint winners, receiving a notable mention for its range of matchday refreshment options. This follows Norwich City being awarded the same accolade for retail operations in the 2024/25 season.

Following the latest Family Excellence report, the club has introduced Games Makers to assist supporters with queries outside the ground. It has also expanded its range of junior activities for younger fans attending Carrow Road, with the newly redeveloped Fan Village now providing an enhanced space for families outside the South Stand.

"The Family Excellence Scheme is regularly referenced internally at Carrow Road, with colleagues throughout the club using feedback from previous assessments to help shape and enhance our family offering. It is testament to the scheme that it is now in its 20th season and aligns with our club wide commitment to deliver the best possible supporter experience and to be a welcoming environment for families” – Elliot King, head of supporter engagement

As part of this landmark anniversary season, the EFL will celebrate 20 Seasons of Family Excellence by showcasing further stories from clubs, supporters, families and staff who have all helped shape the Scheme’s success and continue to make matchdays welcoming for the next generation.
