The Canaries are back on the road this Saturday as they travel north to face Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium (KO 3pm).
Philippe Clement’s side head to the Riverside Stadium following back-to-back league wins, most recently securing three points at home on Wednesday night with a 2-1 win over Birmingham City.
Having recorded four wins from their last five in all competitions, City head to Teesside hoping to build on their recent run of form.
The Opposition
Kim Hellberg’s side head into Saturday’s clash following their Carabao Cup third-round tie at Selhurst Park where they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.
In the Sky Bet Championship, Boro sit sixth with 10 points from their opening five matches, their only defeat coming against Blackburn Rovers on their first away trip of the campaign.
Middlesbrough secured three points in their most recent league outing against QPR, with summer signing Will Lankshear scoring his fifth league goal of the season in a 1-0 victory.
During the summer transfer window, Hellberg added 12 new players to his squad, including Lankshear, who joined on a permanent deal from Tottenham Hotspur. Goalkeeper Radek Vitek also arrived from Manchester United to become Boro’s new number one.
There were several departures from Riverside, including Hayden Hackney leaving to join Everton in a £24m deal. It brought an end to his 14-year association with Boro, his final season on Teesside seeing him named the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Year.

The last time the two sides met, Middlesbrough claimed all three points at the Riverside Stadium.
With 17 minutes on the clock, Hackney picked the ball up from 25 yards out and fired beyond Kovačević into the top-right corner to score the only goal in a 1-0 win.
The Canaries’ most recent win over Boro came in November 2020, on the road at the Riverside Stadium.
Teemu Pukki converted from the spot in the 72nd minute to take all three points back to Norfolk.
Connections
Several players have worn both shirts, including Jonny Howson who signed for the Canaries in 2012 before departing to Middlesbrough in 2017.
During his time with Norwich, he scored 23 goals in 179 league appearances, including a mazy solo effort against Manchester City at the Etihad.
Howson spent seven seasons with Middlesbrough between 2017 and 2025, captaining the Teessiders for four campaigns after being appointed club captain in 2021.
The midfielder made 321 appearances for Boro, scoring nine times.
Onel Hernádez, Ben Gibson and Jordan Rhodes have also all made appearances for both sides.
