Norwich City return to action at Carrow Road for the second time in three days when they take Portsmouth in the Sky Bet Championship (3pm kick-off).
Philippe Clement's side take on Portsmouth on Saturday, October 17, looking to end a run of five defeats in all competitions having narrowly fallen to defeat against Pompey's Hampshire counterparts Southampton on Wednesday, with Kuryu Matsuki's second half strike seperating both sides.
Opponents
John Mousinho's side arrive in Norfolk on Saturday buoyed by a dramatic 3-2 midweek victory over ten-man Sheffield United.
Pompey took the lead four minutes before half-time through Zak Swanson before being handed a numerical advantage just three minutes later, when Blades full-back Hamza Choudhury was sent off after receiving his second yellow card.
The visitors looked to have secured all three points when Adrian Segečić turned home Ryan Mavuma-McQueen's cross in the 54th minute. However, despite their numerical disadvantage, Chris Wilder's side fought back through goals from Tom Cannon and Japhet Tanganga to draw level.
Portsmouth had the final say, though, as Ebou Adams' emphatic half-volley found the net in the 89th minute to seal a dramatic late winner.
The result secured the Blues' third Championship victory of the season, lifting them to 16th in the table while leaving them with a game in hand over several of the sides around them.
Previous Encounters
The two sides meet on Saturday, just seven months after their last encounter in East Anglia, when they shared the spoils in the closing stages of the 2025/26 campaign.
Pelle Mattsson's low strike put Philippe Clement's side ahead after 23 minutes, before the midfielder saw his clearance deflect into his own net to restore parity with ten minutes remaining.
The Canaries hold the historical edge over Pompey, having won 25 of the 64 meetings between the sides since their first encounter in 1921.
| Record | Total |

| Norwich City wins | 25 |
| Draws | 17 |
| Portsmouth wins | 22 |
However, Norwich will be looking to end a 24-year wait for a home victory over John Mousinho's side. Their last win at Carrow Road came in 2002, when Iwan Roberts' 81st-minute header secured all three points.
A Foot in both Camps
Had injury not ruled winger Josh Murphy out for eight weeks, the City academy graduate could have made his return to Carrow Road, having last featured in Norfolk during Portsmouth's 5-3 victory in 2025.
Josh Martin, Cameron McGeehan, Louis Thompson and Abu Kamara have also all come through Norwich's youth system before going on to represent the Hampshire side. Kamara is set to return to Norfolk this weekend after rejoining Pompey on Deadline Day.
Another product of the Canaries' academy, Darel Russell, made 269 appearances in yellow and green across two spells at the club before joining Portsmouth later in his career.
Peter Crouch, meanwhile, is among a select group of players to have represented Norwich City, Portsmouth and Hampshire rivals Southampton, having featured for all three clubs during his career.
