Jovon Makama made his return to first team action as Norwich City and Colchester United played out a goalless draw at the Avant Training Centre.
City's best chance of the afternoon fell to the aforementioned striker after his introduction at half time, however the former Lincoln man was unable to apply the finish, after great work beforehand.
The host's best chance of the early exchanges fell to Mathias Kvistgaarden in the 17th minute. He created space for himself on the edge of the area before firing straight at the goalkeeper.
Matěj Jurásek came closest to opening the scoring for the Canaries in the first half after 25 minutes, when the Czech international found himself unmarked inside the area, but his effort drifted narrowly wide.
Philippe Clement made ten changes at the break, with only goalkeeper Dan Grimshaw returning for the second half. The stopper was called into action almost immediately after the restart, producing an excellent save to deny Kien Connolly from the penalty spot.
Making his return to the pitch after limping off against Blackburn Rovers in February, Makama brilliantly rolled his marker before seeing his effort flash just wide of the post.
City return to action on Friday night when they travel to Switzerland to face Austrian Bundesliga side St. Gallen (7pm UK).
Norwich City: Grimshaw (Ansen 60'); Stacey (Fisher 45'), Darling (Medić 45), McConville (Alves 45'), Özcan (Mahovo 45'); Gibbs (Field 45'), Mattsson (Wright 45'), Jurásek (Jones 45'), Mahgoma (Baumann 45'), Schwartau (Ameen 45'); Kvistgaarden. (Makama 45')
