Ben Chrisene says he and his Norwich City teammates must find a way to turn the tide following Wednesday evening’s 1-0 defeat against Southampton at Carrow Road.

City were beaten by a solitary Kuru Matsuki goal midway through the second half.

Oscar Schwartau and Jacob Wright came closest to breaking through a stubborn Southampton rearguard, but it was ultimately a frustrating night for all of a yellow and green persuasion.

Speaking after the game, Chrisene said: “It was a tough night for us. I don’t want to sugar coat it, because we know the results haven’t been good enough. We must bounce back and we have to turn things around.

“The run of defeats is not a good feeling, but we must stick together as a group. We know we can do better and we have to have that mentality going into the next games.

“I think that the mood of the group does suffer a little during these periods, but the head coach is level-headed. He is very keen to ensure we remain focussed on our plan, calm and not lose sight of what we’re trying to do.

“A lack of clean sheets is a problem, but we can’t overthink that and let it affect our performances. I firmly believe that the clean sheets will come, but first and foremost we have to find a way to start winning games.”

During the recent run of results, Chrisene believes City have been on the wrong side of fine margins and was focussed on changing the mood and feeling around the team quickly.

He added: “We’ve been in games and it feels like we’re close in moments. We’ve played a lot of good teams so far, and there hasn't been much difference between the sides in our games.

“It doesn’t mean much, but we could have had more points. We have to continue to work hard as a collective to make sure we’re the ones coming out on the right side of those margins.

“We showed last season we can turn things around and go on a good run of form. We need to dig deep and find that mood and feeling and get some momentum very quickly.

“We expected more from the season so far. We've got a good group that absolutely care. We have a lot of games left and we’ll continue to do everything possible to turn the corner.

“Saturday is a really important game. We need the fans behind us, but that has to start with what we do on the pitch.”
