Philippe Clement was delighted to see his side register their first points of the Sky Bet Championship season following a comprehensive victory over Burnley at Carrow Road.
Two goals each for Mohamed Touré and summer signing Andre Brooks saw City cruise past Burnely, relegated from the top flight last season, on a wet afternoon in NR1.
And speaking to the media after the game, Clement spoke of his delight for the home supporters.
“It's really important for us to give our fans entertaining football and results,” Clement said.
“I have to say, against West Brom, I thought we also did that, but we just lacked the result. Today we win and we deserve to win, also. And of course, if you start the game in the way we did, on the front foot and scoring directly, two fast goals, that helps.
“It’s not a new message; it's what we always want. You can’t do it against every opponent. Today we scored the goals and we keep on creating a lot of chances. We don't give away much.
“I said it before the game, I had a feeling like before the Coventry game of last season, the home game, where we get the good result against a good team, strong team, a team that competes for top two positions.
“Burnley the same, with all of the talent that they have in that squad, for us to win that way today was important. It’s another step forward and it's continuing to introduce the new players to get them used to the way of playing, also in other details to make it better and better.”
It was particularly standout afternoon for Brooks, who following his summer switch from Sheffield United now has three goals in five competitive appearances.
And speaking of the flying winger, Clement added: He needs to confirm and build on this now. He can’t be happy with just this, and needs to show even more hunger to become better.
“We want him to build on this. We want more of him, as he is somebody with a lot of potential. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have made this effort to get him in.
“It was important to strengthen that part of the pitch. Andre is showing good things. We have can now introducing Ante there, and other players can play that position also.
“Now that we can go into every game, full power with all squads and players available. That's going to be so important in this relentless competition.”
Clement also took time to speak of the Junior Canaries takeover, which saw him face a group of young supporters in Friday’s pre-match press conference.
He concluded: “The more we can entertain fans and our younger supporters, those are the nice things about this job. You see the joy in the eyes of kids. Those are the things that give us fuel.”
