Philippe Clement was pleased with his side’s intensity as the Canaries secured a 4-1 victory over MK Dons in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
Quick-fire goals from Mohamed Touré and Anis Ben Slimane saw City race into a two-goal lead inside the opening seven minutes, before Ben Chrisene and debutant Andre Brooks added further goals to confirm Norwich’s place in the second round.
Following the game, head coach Philippe Clement said: “I think all four goals were really well-worked goals.
“We had several other chances. We almost didn't give away anything. Pity you concede the goal, but it's also their [MK Dons] strength to score on those things.
“A really positive afternoon and confirmation what the team has been doing the last couple of weeks.
“Working hard to see players becoming stronger, better, faster. Also, we can build on movements that we did last season, the way we worked last season.
“I think a very positive result. I think until now in this cup, it’s the biggest result of the afternoon. So that's a very positive one because a lot of hard work to get results like this against a team like that.”
The Canaries made the perfect start, with Touré and Slimane both finding the net inside the opening seven minutes.
"I always want to start like that, but you don't always manage, of course, to score the goals, but with our intentions to dominate, to win, to be on the front foot, to be aggressive and positively aggressive.
“It's really positive also for Mo Coming back after the World Cup, also the situation with Ali, what happened last week and Mo's reaction to that.
“I think it was a goal for Ali that he scored there and shows how united this team is.”
Brooks marked his Norwich debut with a second-half goal, while two of City’s returning World Cup contingent also featured as Clement’s side continued to build momentum ahead of the new campaign.
“The movement, also the adaptation from Andre - for him, everything is new and it's only just a few weeks into the building, but you see he understands what we want to do with and without the ball, so that's a massive thing.
“How the guys came back out of the World Cup, all of them, as well as somebody came out of injury, Ben Cuisine, who played for me the last week, the best football that I've seen him until now, that's really positive towards the season.
“I think all the fans enjoy this game. We want to play attacking football, we want to play attractive football, but out of a good structure and you see that the fans are enjoying that.”
