Norwich City Women head coach Perry Northeast was happy with the performance against Luton Town but feels there is still another level to reach.
"We're fairly pleased with it today. Pleased in terms of getting over the line result-wise. The performance level I would say was moderate today.
"We wanted to give lots of opportunities to lots of players which is what this competition is about as well as trying to progress so we are happy in that sense from a performance perspective.
"There was some nice football and the two goals we scored today were directly from the style and the manner in how we wanted to finish an attack so we're happy with that and I think the players are happy with that.
"What we would like to do moving forward is try to execute a level of consistency across a game to enable us to see games out in a more comfortable manner as well.
"So that will be the learning for today and we've had a nice conversation in the changing room directly afterwards and we'll look to ensure we can continue learning and progressing over the coming weeks."
City were put under heavy pressure in the second half but defended valiantly to get the victory over the line.
"I think on the whole we were still calm and that's one of the main things when you're 2-0 up away from home in a cup competition, ensuring that we don't lose our cool in these situations.
"I think we did that well and the goal that they scored is always going to promote then intensity towards the back end of a game but I think overall we managed it well.
"We do just have to tidy up some of our habits and some of our behaviours in some phases of the game but we can look at that this week and ensure that we polish that up for Boldmere."
Both of the Canaries' goals came from clever interplay down the right. Speaking on whether this area was targeted, Northeast said: "Yes, not necessarily just a weakness of Luton's but a way of finishing attacks so we can ensure that we have an end product that is worthy of a goal.
"The players are really trying hard to execute that within a training context and today, it came off twice in the game context and we still want to demand more in this area.
"I know the players can offer more in this area, they know they can and that's not a negative comment, that's more a comment of excitement for what's to come."
City return to league action next Sunday when they welcome Boldmere St Michaels to The Nest.
"Full preparation for Boldmere now. As I've mentioned before, we treat every opposition with the same level of respect in every competition.
"We were obviously full focus on Luton before today. And now we've executed this game, we will, from this evening, look at Boldmere and how we can strategise to put in a good performance."
