Oscar Schwartau was delighted to mark his return to the starting XI with the opening goal as Norwich City beat Birmingham City 2-1 under the Carrow Road lights.
The 20-year-old produced a spectacular finish before City held on for a hard-fought Championship victory.
“It's a good feeling in there,” Schwartau said. “Getting the three points and just a good win today is a nice feeling.
“It was a tough game. I didn't play that good myself until the goal, but it's just a great feeling and a classic Championship game. Great win.”
Schwartau felt Norwich showed their battling qualities during the closing stages.
“The lads did a great job today,” he said. “The last 10 minutes, they kept it very professional and did good.
“Just a great shift from the lads.”
Schwartau revealed he had been encouraged by his family to shoot more often when presented with opportunities.
“I spoke a lot with my family about when I get in those positions, just shoot sometimes, and luckily today it went quite good,” he said.
“Maybe West Brom last year, but yes, it's up there as one of the better goals.”
The timing of the opener was also significant, coming during a period of pressure from Birmingham.
“When you get the timing, it's hard for the other team, and it's just very good,” he said.
Schwartau feels increasingly comfortable in the Championship and has enjoyed playing in his preferred number 10 position.
“Going into my third year now, you know a little bit better what to do and know what's going to happen, so you can prepare yourself a little bit better,” he said.
“It's really nice. The gaffer also sees me in there and I feel like I can help the team a lot in there.
“I can also do it in the other position, but it just feels very comfortable in there.”
He also believes the depth of the squad will be crucial as the season progresses.
“We have a very good squad and a lot of good players,” Schwartau said. “The lads stepping up all the time is what we need for going the whole way this year.”
After returning to the starting XI having missed the previous game, Schwartau praised Clement's honesty in explaining his selection decisions.
“The gaffer was very clear to me about what and why it was going to happen,” he said. “As you can see today, it played really good off.
“Honesty is the best part of it. He was honest to me, and as he is to all the other lads.”
With four wins from their last five matches, Schwartau wants Norwich to keep building.
“These kind of wins we need to build on it and just keep the momentum going into the next game,” he said. “We need those points and it's important, so we have to keep going.”
And with Middlesbrough and Manchester City coming up, he is relishing the challenge.
“This is the best as a footballer,” he said. “There's games all the time and good games as well, so you want to play good and want to perform in those kind of games.
“So yeah, it's going to be exciting.”
