Darlin Yongwa reflected on Norwich City's Carabao Cup exit against Manchester City, discussing the challenge of facing one of the world's best sides, his first full 90 minutes for the club, and the importance of Sunday's match against Bolton.
"It was a good game against a good team. We tried our best together as a team," Yongwa said.
"I think we played pretty well, but this is football and they are one of the best teams in the world. Now we focus on the next game."
The Cameroonian felt City battled well in the opening stages of the contest but believes Norwich can take valuable lessons from the experience.
"We started well, but we know Manchester City have a lot of quality," he said.
"We played some good football and created openings when we moved the ball well. I think we need to take the experience from this game and use it to improve in the next one."
Yongwa also highlighted the fine margins involved when facing elite opposition.
"It's a very, very good team. When you play against a team like that, one mistake can end in a goal," he said.
"We need to stay strong together and avoid making those mistakes."
Having completed his first full match for the club, the defender was pleased to get 90 minutes under his belt.
"It's been a long time since I played 90 minutes, so I'm very happy," he said.
"It's my first full game for the team. I need to work more and do more, but I think with time both myself and the team will continue to improve."
After arriving at Norwich during the summer transfer window, Yongwa also spoke positively about settling into life in Norfolk.
"I like Norwich. It's a good city and very beautiful," he said.
"My teammates have shown me some of the sights around the city and, for me, it's been really good."
The 25-year-old is now hoping to make his first appearance at Carrow Road in the near future.
"I'm very excited to play at Carrow Road," he said.
"I've played a few games now, but they've all been away from home. I want to play there. We have great fans and support from everyone, and it's great to see. Hopefully the coach gives me that opportunity soon."
Attention now turns to Sunday's match against Bolton Wanderers, Norwich's final fixture before the opening international break of the season.
"It's very important to win on Sunday," Yongwa said.
"If we win, we'll go into the international break with a positive result, which is very important."
"Our objective on Sunday is to win, for ourselves, for the fans and for the club. It's important for the future because if you want to be promoted, you need to win games like that."
Yongwa will then link up with Cameroon for the upcoming international fixtures.
"We've played three games in the last week and then we have the international break, which is longer than normal," he said.
"It's a long break, but first we need to win on Sunday. After that, we'll see what happens during the international break."
