Norwich City's Under-21s are set to make their National League Cup debut during the 2026/27 season, competing alongside 31 other clubs from Premier League 2 and the National League.
The National League Cup features 32 teams, made up of 16 Premier League 2 sides and 16 National League clubs. Designed to provide young players with valuable experience in senior football environments, the competition also continues to strengthen the relationship between clubs across the two leagues.
The group stage consists of four groups of eight teams, with each club playing four fixtures against teams from the opposite league. Every match is played at a National League first-team stadium, giving Under-21 players the opportunity to experience competitive senior matchday environments away from Premier League 2 football.
If a match is level after 90 minutes, a penalty shootout will determine which side earns an additional point. The top two teams from each group will then progress to the knockout stage, which features quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final, with the competition running through to March 2027.
The competition continues to encourage collaboration between Premier League 2 and National League clubs, creating opportunities on and off the pitch while helping young players continue their development through meaningful, competitive fixtures against senior opposition.
