Norwich City Under-21s return to Premier League 2 action on Friday night, hosting West Ham United at the Avant Training Centre (7pm kick-off).

Olly Lee's side face the Hammers just four days after their latest National League Cup outing, as they look to bounce back from their first defeat in the competition and return to winning ways in PL2.

Despite goals from Elliot Myles, Toby Chilvers and Finlay Corke in Hampshire, the young Canaries fell to a 5-3 defeat against Aldershot Town, with Marcus Dinanga's hat-trick helping the hosts claim all three points.

City remain second in Group B, however, and are well placed to progress to the knockout stages ahead of their final group fixture against Braintree in November.

Attention now turns back to league action following a four-week hiatus, with the Canaries last featuring in PL2 in mid-September, when they suffered defeat against Sunderland. Their participation in both the Premier League and National League Cup, alongside the international break, has contributed to the extended gap between fixtures.

After four league games, Lee's side sit 12th in the table, having recorded early-season victories over Birmingham City and Middlesbrough. Friday's opponents, meanwhile, occupy 15th place after winning once and drawing twice in their opening four matches.

West Ham's sole league victory came against Liverpool in September, when Joel Kerr scored the only goal of the game.

Friday's fixture could also see midfielder Mirko Topić make his long-awaited return to action after an 11-month injury lay-off.
