Norwich City Women had a perfect start to their pre-season campaign, beating Division One South East side London Bees 5-0 on the road on Sunday afternoon. 

The five goals came from Holly Kennard, Faith Harrison, Poppy Groves and a double from Issy Moore.

After goalkeeper Poppy Irvine suffered an injury during the warm-up, Megan Frary was handed a start between the sticks for City; the only new signing named in the starting 11.

Perry Northeast's two other recent signings Natalie Johnson and Zofia Szczech also entered the field of play in the second half.

Kennard took the chance to shoot first inside the opening five minutes; Moore setting her upon the edge of the area to fire straight at Millington-Stanbury in goal.

The City duo then linked up again shortly after and this time delivered the first blow, as Kennard fired home from close-range.

The winger had the chance to double her goal tally and City's lead just minutes later after, stealing the ball deep in the Bees half and dragging a shot narrowly wide.

Shortly after Lauren Hailes rattled the crossbar with an effort, the Canaries had a second through a rifling shot from Moore into the top corner.

In the final minutes of the first half, Faith Harrison made it three with a neat finish in the box after a brilliant through-ball from Daviss.

City continued the high press into the second half, as Harrison continued to be a nuisance for the Bees backline.

The forward intercepted a pass from Millington-Stanbury on the edge of the area and found Kennard in the box to round the stopper and set-up Moore to tap home the fourth.

Mere minutes after arriving on the scene, Poppy Groves had the fifth thanks to a ball from from Kennard that picked out the midfielder perfectly to fire home at the first time of asking.

Bees did force Frary into a save on the hour mark but it was no trouble for the City stopper to collect.

City then saw the final 30 minutes out comfortably to seal the 5-0 win on the road.

The Canaries are back in action on Wednesday, July 29 in a 7.45pm kick-off against Wroxham.
