Billy Gilmour admitted Norwich City's 1-0 defeat to Manchester United was a tough one to take.
The Canaries battled well throughout the fixture and were unlucky to come out on the losing side.
It was their lack of a clinical edge in front of goal which ulitmately cost them.
Speaking to canaries.co.uk after the game, Gilmour said: "It's a disappointing result but we played really well. We showed togetherness and created a lot of opportunities but again, it's the goals. We need to start scoring goals.
"We moved the ball up the pitch well but it's just that final touch again. We need to take our chances when we create them.
"It's a hard one to take, we gave it our all. I'm not sure if it was a penalty or not. It's just one of these things in football, you need to take it.
"We need to believe that we're going to go and score. There's opportunities there for us. We just weren't at it in front of goal."
Head coach Dean Smith made five changes to the side for the game, and captain Grant Hanley had to be replaced during the game due to injury.
But the performances of the players that came in shows the quality in the City squad, according to Gilmour.
"Grant had a knock but when Lungi (Jacob Sorensen) came on, I thought he was excellent. He came straight in and the defence overall was very solid.
"The boys know when they come in, they have to be ready. We have a good squad here, if we play like that every week we'll get something in most cases.
"We just need to keep this performance level up."
City can't dwell on the result for too long - they welcome Aston Villa to Carrow Road on Tuesday night.
"It's good that we've got another game quite quickly. It's another good opportunity and we need the fans' support once again."
