Dean Smith has urged his Norwich City players to build on their weekend win in the FA Cup as they prepare for an important set of Premier League fixtures between now and the end of January.
The Canaries weren't at their best against Charlton Athletic, Dean admitted at his pre-match press conference ahead of their trip to West Ham United, but they got the job done thanks to Milot Rashica's late winner.
Dean is now hoping the Canaries take confidence from that game into future fixtures, starting this Wednesday evening at London Stadium.
Reflecting on the last few days, Dean said: "The boys did a recovery session yesterday, with the next game coming very quickly.
"A win is a win, as they say in any sport. That's what Sunday was for us, we needed to break that cycle. It wasn't the most fluent of performances and watching the game back on reflection, there was a lot I didn't like. But we created the better chances and got through.
"That will give the lads some confidence but it was also good for the likes of Tim Krul, Teemu Pukki, Grant Hanley and Milot Rashica to get some minutes."
"It helps them as we go into this important period coming up."
The Canaries are keen to return to the form they showed shortly after Dean was introduced as head coach of the club in November.
Over December, with a squad decimated by injury and illness, City found things hard going, but Dean says the team are keen to bounce back quickly.
"We have to trust in our processes that we're putting on in training at the moment. I believe that the comebacks of the likes of Tim Krul, Teemu Pukki, Grant Hanley and Milot Rashica will boost the squad.
"I feel we've been a little bit unfairly criticised in the last three games where our squad has been decimated.
"The first five games I saw from the players is what I want to see, and that's what I expect to see against a very strong West Ham team."
Looking at West Ham, they've enjoyed a rich spell of form over the last 18 months, and look set to challenge for European places once again this season.
Dean passed his compliments onto David Moyes' team: "Everyone is impressed with what they've done and job Moyesy has done there.
"They're an excellent team, when you go to a place and know what the team is going to be like before you get there, you know they're in a good place.
"They keep a similar eleven. It's going to be testing as the season goes on for them, they'll be fighting on a lot of fronts."
