Dean Smith was pleased with aspects of Norwich City's display during their 2-0 defeat to West Ham United, but conceded a lack of 'killer instinct' cost them.
The Canaries had their moments at the London Stadium, but were ultimately beaten by a Jarrod Bowen double, the goals coming towards the end of each half.
Speaking after the game, Dean has urged his players to find a ruthless edge in both boxes quickly.
"Football at this level is about small details," he admitted. "We got the small details wrong, I’m really disappointed with both the goals.
"Jarrod Bowen hasn’t had to get off the ground to head them into the lead. In the six-yard box, that can’t happen.
"Then their goalkeeper clears it and he’s allowed to pop it off and they get an overload on the far post and score a marginal goal, which the linesman thought was offside.
"We can’t hide from the fact we had to weather the storm in the first 10/15 minutes of the second-half when they hit the bar and post.
"But we had a 20 minute spell ourselves when we were in the game. We just need a bit of killer instinct in the box at the moment and a little bit of confidence."
Dean lined City up in a 4-4-2 formation, with Adam Idah joining Teemu Pukki up front, and he was pleased with the work of his team between both boxes.
"We countered a lot better and were a lot better on the ball than we have been. We had to change the system a little bit today because we were three midfielders down with Rupp, Gilmour and Normann out.
"We went for a different 4-4-2. I spoke to the wide players at half-time, and wanted a bit more urgency from them. We need a few more deeper runs to trouble their backline.
"We were better than how we have been over the last few games. At times you have to mix the game up and play through them, and we did that well through Pierre (Lees-Melou) and Kenny (McLean), and linked it up well.
"But there’s a time where you have to put it behind your opponents. We tried both of those today and had some success. But the fact remains that we’re goalless in the last six games and we need to turn that around."
