Josh Sargent admitted Norwich City’s defeat to Watford on Saturday afternoon was ‘frustrating’.
Emmanuel Dennis opened the scoring for the visitors early on, before Teemu Pukki replied shortly after the half hour mark with a clinical finish.
However, Watford were ruthless in the second-half and a double from Ismaila Sarr saw them take all three points.
Speaking to canaries.co.uk, Sargent said: “In the first-half, we were competing with them (Watford) very well and a little bit at the beginning of the second-half as well.
“So, I think it’s a very frustrating result for us. Letting up in these little moments and conceding these goals obviously blows the wind out of everybody. It takes away the momentum.
“We’ve got to look to sharpen that type of stuff up and try and get some results.
“It was a close game, we wanted to keep putting pressure on them. At times it was going back and forth a little bit too much. We talked about keeping possession a little bit more (at half-time) to not tire ourselves out.
“It was just little moments we shut off as a team. We conceded too easy goals and as a team, we need to get better.”
Sargent came in for his first Premier League start against the Hornets and looked sharp in the final third, particularly when linking up with Pukki.
“I’m hoping (I can develop the partnership with Teemu Pukki). The more we play together, the more we’ll get to know each other’s tendencies.
“Hopefully we can continue to play together and to build that relationship.”
Looking ahead, Sargent says it’s important City switch their focus away from Saturday’s match quickly as they prepare for a Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool on Tuesday night.
“Obviously, the guys are going to be disappointed tonight. But we’ll sleep it off, go into training tomorrow and get ready for this cup game.”
