Match Preview: Barnsley v Norwich City

Norwich City's 2020-21 title-winning Championship campaign comes to an end with Saturday's trip to Barnsley (12.30pm KO).

Our Match Preview looks at the Tykes' impressive season so far, the officials in charge of Saturday's match and how you can follow the action live from home.

The opposition

Few predicted Barnsley to be in the play-offs at the end of the season, but with 23 wins, eight draws and 14 defeats, they'll finish 2020-21 at least in sixth place.

With 77 points, they are level with fifth-placed Bournemouth going into the wekeend and three points shy of Swansea City, both of those sides boasting superior goal difference.

Barnsley began the season with Gerhard Struber at the helm but fell to 22nd in the league after three defeats and a draw from the first four league matches.

Valerien Ismael was then appointed and gradually led the club to the top half of the table. They've now been in the play-offs since early March and have lost just three of the last 20 matches.

Cauley Woodrow is the club's top scorer so far this season with 13 goals in all competitions, closely followed by Daryl Dike, Alex Mowatt and Carlton Morris.

In the 44 meetings between Norwich and Barnsley since 1922, there have been 19 Norwich wins, 14 draws and 11 Barnsley wins.

Last time we met came in the fourth round of the FA Cup, Callum Styles 56th' minute goal the difference at Oakwell Stadium in January.

Ref watch

Joshua Smith has been appointed to take charge of Saturday's match, Richard Wild and Mark Dwyer his assistants and Matthew Donohue the fourth official.

Saturday's game will be the first time Smith has officiated in a Norwich match.
