Max Aarons says Norwich City need to show more belief if they're going to turn their recent run of results around.
The Canaries certainly showed an improved performance from their recent Premier League outings, but they came out on the losing side against West Ham United at the London Stadium.
Speaking afterwards, Max said: "Of course, it’s massively disappointing to have lost this game. Any game of football that you lose, it really, really hurts.
"But I thought it had been a step up in the performance levels today. I thought we got into some good areas and executed our game plan fairly well.
"But like we’ve said a lot of times this season, the quality in both boxes was not there. Both defensively and offensively, we need to have that bit more belief that we can go and win games like this.
"It’s massively disappointing but if we carry on with those performance levels, it gives us a bigger chance of getting out of this."
Max was frustrated at the timing of the first West Ham goal, as Jarrod Bowen nodded home with just three minutes of the first-half remaining.
"I looked at the clock with five minutes to go until half-time and we’d had a really good first-half until then. Going into the break 0-0 would have put the pressure on them, so to concede in the manner we did is very disappointing.
"The one late on is annoying as well. All we can do is carry on going, I still think we can get better.
"Adam (Idah's) shot (which hit the post on 68 minutes) was a good one, and that’s what we need to do more. We need to surprise our opponents with moments like that to get us a goal, especially in the position we are.
"It’s disappointing but we have to move on quickly and get ready for a massive game against Everton on Saturday. I do believe if we continue this performance level, we can hurt them."
The game was milestone for Max on a personal note, as his made his 150th appearance for the club.
"Especially at the age I am, it’s massive for me. I pride myself on consistency and people knowing what they’re going to get from me week-in, week-out.
"I love playing football matches, whether it was my first appearance, 10th or 150th, it’s always an amazing feeling pulling on the shirt for this club.
"We’ll continue to battle and fight and it’s an honour to play for this football club."
