The Canaries are back on the road for their second away game of the week as they travel to face Sheffield United this Saturday (3pm KO).
Philippe Clement’s side will be looking to get back to winning ways at Bramall Lane following their 1-0 defeat away against Stoke City on Tuesday evening.
The Opposition
Chris Wilder’s side registered their first win of the season on Tuesday evening at home against Bolton Wanderers. Summer signing Romelle Donovan scored in added time to claim three points for The Blades.
United began their 2026/27 Sky Bet Championship campaign with two goalless draws, before a 2-2 draw against Cardiff City ahead of their trip to the bet365 Stadium.
Sheffield United sit in eighth place heading into Saturday’s clash.
Like Norwich, Sheffield have had a successful Carabao Cup run so far. They achieved a 3-0 win away from home against Mansfield Town in their opening game, followed by a 2-1 win away against Blackburn Rovers secured progression into the third round. The Blades will travel to face League Two side Fleetwood Town in their next Carabao Cup tie.
Wilder has added 14 new additions to his side in the latest transfer window, including Ben Brereton Diaz returning for a second loan spell from Southampton.
There were 18 departures from Bramall Lane across the window, most notably Andre Brooks to Carrow Road.
Previous Encounters
The last time The Canaries faced The Blades was in March 2026, when Philippe Clement’s side claimed all three points at home.
Jaïro Riedewald opened the scoring in the 21st minute, putting the visitors in front at Carrow Road.
The Blades started the second half 1-0 up before Jack Stacey levelled the score after meeting Jacob Wright's corner with a near post header to beat Adam Davies.
Amankwah Forson put the Canaries in front on 84 minutes, four minutes after being substituted on. Forson curled a first-time left footed shot into the top corner after Paris Maghoma found him in space on the edge of the box. Quite a fitting moment of redemption for Forson, after he missed a one-on-one to win the reverse fixture at Bramall Lane earlier in the season.
Connections
Norwich City’s new number 11, Andre Brooks, arrived at Carrow Road directly from Bramall Lane.
Born in Sheffield, Brooks made 96 appearances for Sheffield United, 20 of which came in the Premier League. Andre scored nine goals during his time with the Blades. During his final season in the steel city, he was named Players’ Player and Young Player of the season.
Brooks has had an impressive start to his time with The Canaries, already notching three goals. Andre scored on debut in Norwich’s 4-1 Carabao Cup victory over MK Dons and put two past Burnley during last Saturday’s 4-1 win over Burnley.
Like Brooks, Anis Ben Slimane joined Norwich City from Sheffield United, where he made 15 appearances in the Premier League for the Blades. Slimane initially joined the Canaries on loan in August 2024, before signing a long-term contract with Norwich in January 2025.
George Long and Keiran Dowell are also on the list of players who have played for both sides.
