In Memoriam

We recognise that many supporters spend a lifetime following Norwich City. In recognition of this support, the club offers a number of opportunities for families and friends to remember their loved ones. We are also aware of the many questions individuals may have at such a difficult time and have provided information related to some frequently asked questions below.

Celebration of Life Fixture

The club holds an annual ‘celebration of life’ fixture to mark supporter deaths via a minute’s applause.

We invite supporters to submit the relevant information below to form part of the tribute on the big screen and in the matchday programme as part of this fixture:

  • Name of deceased
  • Birth date and death date
  • Photo (preferably in club colours)
  • Confirmation from the immediate family of the deceased that their information can be included in the tribute

To be included in our next celebration of life, please email memorial@canaries.co.uk and we will acknowledge safe receipt of your email.

Memorial Service

The club holds an annual memorial service in one of our lounges at Carrow Road, held by club chaplain, Jon Norman.

To register your interest in attending the memorial service or for more details, please email memorial@canaries.co.uk.

Programme Noticeboard

You can pay tribute to a loved one in our matchday programme via our fan noticeboard. To be included, please email an appropriate photo and a maximum of 50 words of accompanying text to supporterrelations@canaries.co.uk and we will do our best to include this within the next available programme. Please note that submissions may have to be edited due to available space.

Club Chaplain

The club chaplain is Jon Norman, Senior Pastor at Soul Church. Jon can be contacted regarding funerals, weddings or for pastoral support:

Scattering of Ashes

Regrettably, the club is unable to accept requests for the scattering of ashes on the pitch or anywhere at Carrow Road or other club sites.

Minute’s Applause

The club has an internal policy regarding silences and applauses, and are unable to accomodate every request - pre-match acknowledgements are also subject to approval by the EFL. When there are occasions supporters choose to celebrate a fan's life by holding an applause during a match, these are typically organised organically. Owing to the number of supporters that sadly pass each season, we are unable to offer the use of our big screen or conduct silences/applauses unless the club’s internal policy is met. However, we pay tribute to supporters that pass each year via our ‘celebration of life’ fixture which includes a minute’s applause.
